Google Employees in Zurich Receive Mobility Information Through the Open Data Platform on Mobility in Switzerland
Dynamic systems display transport information to passengers at train and bus platforms. They also serve as digital signage in busy stations and bustling public spaces. Behind the display, these digital systems receive real-time data via data hubs like the one from MENTZ. VEOMO from Munich, Germany is a provider of multimodal and dynamic passenger information systems and frequently uses MENTZ interfaces (APIs) to connect data to its mobility dashboard. Since 2022, all Google employees in Zurich have benefited from up-to-date and multimodal transport information: the mobility dashboards display current train, tram, and bus connections, as well as information regarding exclusive employee car, scooter, and bike sharing options, estimated public transport trip times, and a surrounding area map that shows rental stations nearby.
In Switzerland, MENTZ developed the Open Data Platform on Mobility in Switzerland (ODP https://opentransportdata.swiss/en/) for the SBB in 2016, and has continuously expanded its range of functions ever since. The system enables multiple apps, websites, and displays to be reliably supplied with up-to-the-minute mobility information.
