Ready, Set, Hike!
Launched in 2021 by the DAV Munich and Highlands Section, the “Berg Bus” (mountain bus) has now become a permanent part of the Munich public transport network. A powerful tool to request demand responsive transport (DRT) was added to the MVV’s Gullivr app. In particular, the Berg Bus can be reserved and booked by weekend hikers to access areas otherwise not well served by public transport. Passengers receive confirmation of their reservation that is used to present to the driver upon boarding. Once a bus is full, no more bookings or reservations are accepted.
Additional details such as a bus station map, fares, and other FAQs can be found on the MVV website (in German).
