Working together with Transport for New South Wales (TfNSW) in Sydney, MENTZ has provided a technical upgrade for the existing EFA system. MENTZ now operates the system as a SaaS solution in the cloud, offering a future-proof foundation for public transport that meets the needs of one of the world’s fastest-growing metropolitan areas.
A key feature of the new platform is its fully automated scalability (based on server metrics and Artificial Intelligence), which makes it easy to handle peak loads during major events or daily commuter traffic. Performance has improved significantly, leading to 30% faster response times. Thus, the new EFA is noticeably faster than the old one. A technical highlight is the implementation of the entire infrastructure as code (IaC). This approach not only guarantees a robust and consistent system environment but also ensures efficient management and maintenance.
In addition to its core functions, new features have been integrated, including a practical “Via” feature for route planning with stopovers and the display of inclines for cyclists. The use of OpenSearch Logs and statistics also provides a deep understanding of user behavior. Our 24/7 support ensures the continuous availability and reliability of the infrastructure and application.
The next release will introduce more innovative features, including train formation with occupancy display (Predictive Occupancy), Park & Ride, Bike & Ride, a Vehicle Position API, and the integration of toll roads. With this solution, MENTZ is solidifying its position as a globally recognized specialist in digital mobility solutions.
