MENTZ Passenger Information For Belfast
MENTZ’s DIVA and EFA provide Belfast’s brand-new central station with passenger information
Belfast’s new central station is now fully functional. This prestigious project (completed at a cost of around 350 million pounds) links 26 bus stops and 8 platforms under one roof, making it the largest transport hub on the island of Ireland. Estimates from Translink expect about 20 million passengers will pass through the Belfast station every year, making it the largest transport hub on the island of Ireland.
The large displays in the main hall and the smaller monitors on the tracks and platforms (approx. 60 screens) provide data using MENTZ interfaces (APIs). In this way, passengers are promptly and identically informed about departures and other real-time information regarding delays, track or platform changes, or cancellations. This consistency of information applies to displays in the new station, to timetables on the website, to the “Translink NI” app, and to the Translink call center.
CEO Christoph Mentz expressed his gratitude regarding the company’s long-standing collaboration with Northern Ireland, “We have worked alongside Translink for a number of years. To see detailed information on the brand-new displays makes me proud of our work.” In addition to our MaaS app (Gullivr), the Translink also use our event management tool (EMS), and our transport data management system (DIVA).
The new station is considered a “game changer” for public transport in the region. Northern Ireland’s Minister of Infrastructure, John O’Dowd, was one of its first passengers. In an interview with the BBC at its opening, he emphasized the importance of having a cutting-edge public transport system and appealed to the public to use it as frequently as possible.
